• Indirect Grants and Contributions New Horizon Foundation contributions and grants were made to a variety of local and national educational, social, and cultural institutions. Of these, $180,656 went to cultural and civic activities, $248,100 to educational institutions, $247,800 to educational foundations and other nonprofit educational funds, $38,010 to social/educational programs, and $38,545 to charitable organizations.

• Operating Expenses Investments were managed at Bank of America, Chicago, Illinois. Total investment expenses were $27,492. Legal work associated with advising the Foundation was done by the firm of Sachnoff and Weaver, Ltd. of Chicago, Illinois. Legal fees of $432 mainly reflect reviewing the annual report and advice about fund management. Accounting was done by Altschuler, Melvoin and Glasser, LLP of Chicago, Illinois. Accounting fees were $576. The secretary/treasurer was paid a salary of $6,667. All other officers served without compensation.
